Sierra Nevada spreads hard kombucha
CHICO – Sierra Nevada Brewery Co. has expanded its line of “Strainge Beast” hard kombuchas.
Kombucha, a form of fermented tea that has grown in popularity over the past decade, is now one of the newer drinks to feature “hard” options that develop during a second cycle of fermentation.
The recently unveiled flavors include two 100-calorie options that contain 4% alcohol by volume: “Watermelon, Sea Salt, Lime & Mint” and “Raspberry, Golden Kiwi & Elderflower”. In addition, “Grapefruit, Pomegranate and Cucumber”, a standard 7% alcohol kombucha, is added to the already established range.
Sierra Nevada said their kombucha line is inspired by the brewery’s love for the art and science of fermenting blending with organic fruits and plants.
“I’ve always been fascinated by the alchemy of fermentation,” said Ken Grossman, the founder of the company who is also a longtime kombucha enthusiast brewer. “It can turn high quality ingredients into something magical.”
The hard kombucha line that was launched in 2020 currently has three other flavors including a “Ginger, Lemon & Hibiscus”, “Blueberry, Acai & Sweet Basil” and “Passion Fruit, Hops & Blood Orange”.
“We’re excited to bring Strainge Beast Hard Kombucha into the hands of more drinkers, especially as the summer season approaches,” said Robin Gregory, communications director at Sierra Nevada. “Each new Strainge Beast flavor concoction is a blend of organic fruits, herbs and spices that is sure to fuel your curiosity.”
To support the new flavors, Sierra Nevada is starting a series of what they call masterclasses for the unconventional arts. One of the classes is expected to cover Venus Fly Trap Gardening with more class announcements coming to the product line’s Instagram in June to https://www.instagram.com/straingebeast.
“Strainge Beast” can be found in most grocery stores and at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
