Plans for a new 100-child nursery in Hampton have been submitted

The two-story building would be located on land south of Waterhouse Way, according to a planning application submitted jointly by The Abbey Group Cambridgeshire Ltd and O&H Properties Ltd.
The proposals are part of a larger plan for the region, with separate applications also being submitted for a three-story care home and a three-story building with a Co-op store and 10 apartments.
If the request is approved, the nursery would be operated by Little Acorns Day Nurseries Limited, which already operates a number of nurseries in and near Peterborough.
The crèche would be capable of accommodating up to 100 children and would provide childcare and learning services for young people ranging from newborn to four years old.
The majority of children who would attend the nursery should be between the ages of three and four.
The site would have 21 parking spaces – nine for staff and 12 for drop-offs – as well as one for motorcycles and 10 for bicycles.
The building would have two entrances on the ground floor, as well as a hall, staff room, kitchen, reception / office and separate classrooms.
Outdoor spaces for each class would also be provided.
Depending on the app, parents would arrive from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and pick up their children between 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., with the number of arrivals limited to 10 every 10 minutes.
The plans state: “This was done on purpose because having only a few children arriving and leaving at the same time will allow us to settle them in a more personal and attentive manner and to exchange important information with the parents.”
The nursery would provide the equivalent of 12 full-time jobs. Staff would arrive from 7 a.m., with the majority to be hired in the region.
